The 5.7 km route is a serious coast experience in its own right. It links limestone valleys and viewpoints above the sea; it is not a back door into Benagil Cave.
Choose a direction and return
Lagoa places the route between Vale Centeanes and Praia da Marinha. Decide whether to walk one way with a confirmed return or out-and-back; do not discover the transport problem after the hottest section.
Benagil is one part of the coast
The trail gives a high-level view of coves, sea arches and limestone erosion. The cave's roof opening should be observed only from a safe marked position—never approached as an entry point.
Carry a heat-and-edge plan
Shade is limited and cliff terrain demands footwear, water and conservative pacing. Keep to marked routes, respect barriers and turn back when wind, heat, visibility or the group requires it.
